What is a Research School?
The Research Schools Network is committed to one central aim: breaking the link between family income and educational attainment by promoting the effective use of evidence. The network’s 33 Research Schools, spanning various phases and areas of expertise, are strategically located across the country.
Shotton Hall Research School
Based at The Academy at Shotton Hall in Peterlee, our research school focuses on bridging the gap between research evidence and classroom practice. We develop and deliver support for North East schools, offering a range of training opportunities that make research more accessible and practical for teachers, bringing evidence-based concepts and principles to life in the classroom.
We work closely with the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) and local research schools to remain at the forefront of evidence-based practice. Our resources are designed to support teachers at various stages of their careers, covering topics such as effective teaching models, improving recall and retention, and leading targeted interventions to tackling the disadvantage gap.
